Newcomer rules Rolling Thunder

ARARAT, Va. — Newcomer Steve Brody found victory lane Friday night in the Super Street division at Rolling Thunder Raceway.
Brody, Sammy Cook and Jimmy Watson battled neck-and-neck for most of the race, drawing shouts and cheers from the crowd.
Watson wound up in second with Cook in third. Jason White finished fourth, followed by Brad Burkhart.
In the Mini-Sprint division, Critter Foley took the checkered flag with Mikey Witt in second. Steve Cook was third, Roland Hanes fourth and Willie Hicks fifth.
Neil Welch held off nine other cars to take the win in the Crate Late Model class. Randall Hutcherson rolled into second, followed by Keith Holder, Bobby Jones and Conrad Flinchum.
Newcomer Kevin Smith grabbed the victory in the Mini-Stock division. He was followed to the stripe by Jon Turner, Blake Holcomb, Keith Senter and Bobby Koehler.
In the Late Model class, Mount Airy driver Wayne Quesinberry racked up the win ahead of Tommmy Taylor. Bobby Sands was third, with Bubba McGee fourth and Joey Fain fifth.
Rob Favre claimed another U-Car victory. Andy Hickman was runner-up, followed by Greg Vaughn, Michael Bradley and Mikey Witt.
