Knott-Overby

Mary Beth Knott and Colin Andrew “Andy” Overby were married July 19, 2008, in a 2 p.m. ceremony at Bannertown Baptist Church. The Rev. Rusty Reed and the Rev. Wesley Boyles conducted the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Nancy Bradley Knott of Mount Airy and the late John Wayne Knott. She is a 1998 graduate of Surry Central High School and a 2001 graduate of Surry Community College with an associate’s degree in early childhood. She attends Winston-Salem State University and is employed by YVEDDI Head Start as a teacher at the Surry Center.
Her grandparents are the late John and Louise Knott, Nadine Bradley of Winston-Salem and the late Rev. Oren Bradley.
The groom is the son of Delmas and Susan Overby of Mount Airy. He is a 1996 graduate of East Surry High School and a 2004 graduate of Surry Community College with an associate of arts degree. He is employed by Modern Nissan as an automotive technician.
His grandparents are Sammy Overby of Mount Airy and the late Ethel Overby, Lila Mowry of Waynesboro, Va., and the late Clyde Reid.
She was given in marriage by Ronnie Simpson, in memory of her father.
The maid of honor was Sarah Knott of Mount Airy, sister of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Angie Knott of Mount Airy, cousin of the bride; Kendra Clement of Mount Airy, friend of the bride; Beth Freeman of Mount Airy, sister of the groom; and Paula Casstevens of Yadkinville, friend of the bride.
Junior bridesmaid was Leslie Knott of Mount Airy, cousin of the bride.
Flowers were by Creative Designs.
Ringbearer was Luke Freeman of Mount Airy, nephew of the groom.
Best man was Delmas Overby of Mount Airy, father of the groom.
Groomsmen were Matt Medley of Mount Airy, friend of the groom; Elliot Douglas of Mount Airy, friend of the groom; Ben Wicker of Winston-Salem, friend of the groom; Patrick Edmonds of Winston-Salem, cousin of the groom; and Johnny Eaton of Cana, Va., friend of the groom.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Cheryl and David Hicks and Rodney Dockery.
A reception followed in the church fellowship hall.
Reception servers were Rhonda Bradley, Forrest Connell, Debbie Overby, Mary Overby. Catering by Kim Atkins. Reception hosts were Ronnie and JoAnn Young. Registry attendant was Kristin Branch. Program attendant was Colin Branch. Photographer was Cindy Poole. Wedding director was Dawn Lawson.
After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple will reside in Mount Airy.

MITCHELL GREY HARDY AND BRITTANY OLIVIA MELLOW

Joe and Donna Mellow of Pilot Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany Olivia, to Mitchell Grey Hardy.
The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of East Surry High School and a graduate of Appalachian State University as of May, 2008. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Lynch of Ararat and Dr. Suzanne Mellow-Irwin of Sparta and the late Dr. Joseph Mellow.
The prospective groom is the son of Joyce Hardy of Mount Airy and the late Troy Hardy. He is a graduate of North Surry High School and a 2003 graduate of Appalachian State University. He will be graduating in August, 2008 with a master’s degree in business administration from Gardner-Webb University. He is employed by Pike Electric Inc., in Mount Airy. He is the grandson of the late H.W. (Doc) and Annie Grey and the late Jim and Martha Columbia Hardy.
A Sept. 20, 2008 wedding is planned at Salem Baptist Church in Dobson.
